I visited the Wyland Gallery on Disney’s Boardwalk Resort. I really enjoyed this gallery. There were so many paintings that I would consider my favorites. They all were so pretty. Even though it is located in Disney, the artwork isn’t all Disney. Not only were there paintings there, there was also marine life sculptures. All of these art pieces were incredible and unbelievable that someone is so talented to draw and paint these pictures. What I liked the most about these paintings was that the artists put Disney characters into their paintings. Some of the artists that are included in the paintings there are Frogman, James Coleman, Rodel Gonzalez, Michael Godard, and Jim Warren. Unfortunately, taking pictures of these paintings was not allowed. These paintings sell for thousands of dollars.

One picture that impacted me was the Out of the Sea painting. This painting was so pretty to me. It is a painting of The Little Mermaid on a rock and looking at the castle. The Little Mermaid has always been one of my favorite movies, so this was why this was one of my favorite paintings. For anyone who is familiar with this movie, this painting is capturing the scene where Ariel wants to be part of Prince Eric’s world and she sings the song. The way the sun shines onto the ocean and the waves are beautiful. It looks like a real life picture that was taken, if mermaids actually existed. Ariel’s face isn’t in this painting, but she stands out because her red hair, purple bra, and teal colored fin are all brighter colors than the rest of the painting. The other colors are darker and don’t stand out as much.

A painting I felt a connection with is the View of Paradise. This is a picture of a view of the ocean with palm trees. What is neat about this painting is that it is the view looking outside a window. The colors used in the ocean are a very pretty blue. The painting really looks like paradise. The reason I felt a connection to this painting was because I really enjoy the beach, ocean, and palm trees. It made me want to go to the beach and lay in the sun.

Another painting I felt a connection with is A Wishing Star. This is a painting of Pinocchio and the old man in the movie. The cat and fish were also included this along with Jiminy Cricket. It shows them inside their house overlooking the town. In the sky are stars and one bright star. I really liked this painting because I love looking out at the starts and this was basic, but really pretty. I like how the only bright colors are in the house; the rest is dark blue and black because it is night time out.

The other painting that impacted me was the painting from another one of my favorite Disney movies, Beauty and the Beast. This painting is by Rodel Gonzalez and is of Belle and the Beast in his castle. I like that Belle is wearing her famous yellow dress in this and it is capturing the scene of when Belle and the Beast have a nice dinner and dance together. This painting contains main red colors, blues, and yellow. Even though there are not many colors used the painting still looks great. I also like that he didn’t make Belle and the Beast the only focus in this picture. I like that he included other characters in the movie as well such as the momma pop and chip. The original painting of this picture sold before it was even finished.

One of the sculptures that really stood out to me was the one of the Reed Encounter Table. I think this is so neat that a table was made from the sculptures of dolphins. Dolphins are personally my favorite sea animals, so this is why this sculptures caught my eye. I would like to know more about this because I wonder how the idea was come up with. It is a very creative idea for an end table, yet it is simply as well. There also was an end table created using turtles, which was very pretty as well.

Another painting I would like to know more about was The New Dawn. This painting is of a wave, but has a horse running to the shore. The painting is of the horse in motion. The first horse is completely finished, the next doesn’t have back legs, and then the next couple can only see the horses face. I would wonder what the meaning of this painting is and how the idea was come up with. A horse isn’t a common sea animal, so it is interesting that this was used instead of a shark or wale for example. I like how the horse becomes a brighter blue each time.
